Criminal Lawyers in Caledon for OPP Charges and Driving Offences
Caledon is different from the rest of Peel Region. Its rural roads, long stretches of Highway 10 and Highway 50 and quiet concession lines are policed by the Ontario Provincial Police, not Peel Regional Police. Yet when the OPP lays a criminal charge in Caledon, the case goes to the courthouse in Brampton.
Provident Law LLP’s partners, Charnpreet Saini and Armandeep Gill, defend Caledon residents and drivers passing through town. We know how OPP investigations are built and how the Peel Crown approaches driving cases.

Driving Charges on Caledon's Rural Roads
Open roads and long sightlines invite speed, and the OPP enforces heavily in Caledon. A single traffic stop can lead to both a provincial charge and a criminal charge, each with its own consequences.

Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Dangerous driving is a Criminal Code offence that looks at whether your driving was a marked departure from what a reasonable driver would do, considering the road, traffic and conditions. It is more serious than careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act. A conviction brings a criminal record and, under Ontario law, a licence suspension. We examine road conditions, speed evidence, dash-camera video and witness accounts to show the driving did not cross the criminal line.
Street Racing and Stunt Driving
Stunt driving and street racing are Highway Traffic Act offences that carry an immediate 30-day licence suspension and a 14-day vehicle impoundment at the roadside. When a race or stunt leads to a crash or near-miss, police may also lay criminal charges such as dangerous operation. We look at both sets of charges together, so a plea in one court does not hurt your position in the other.
Collisions Causing Bodily Harm or Death
Serious collisions on rural roads often involve reconstruction experts, vehicle data recorders and long investigations before charges are laid. If you were involved in a crash and police want to speak with you, call a lawyer before you give any statement. We can retain independent reconstruction experts, test the Crown’s assumptions about speed and timing, and protect you from making admissions while the investigation is still open.

What clients say
I just recently attended court today in Brampton and my lawyer was Arman Gill. My charges of breach of long-term supervision have been successfully withdrawn from the courts today. In regards, I am leaving a review and letting your firm know that your services were awesome and I am so happy that I don't have to face any jail time. Once again, your services at your law firm were awesome.
I had serious charges against me and, as an international student, dealing with legal issues is not easy, but Arman Gill always had my back and helped me by going above and beyond. Not only on weekdays, he always answered my calls even on weekends and after office hours. I never saw a lawyer with this much dedication to helping their clients. He got all my charges withdrawn at pre-trial with a peace bond. He always talked about my future and what I wanted as a result, and fought as hard as possible to get the best outcome for me.
I worked with Mr. Arman Gill, who helped my son obtain an absolute discharge, and I couldn't be more grateful. From our first meeting, he was knowledgeable and incredibly thorough. He explained every step of the process clearly and made us feel supported throughout. Thanks to his expertise, my son received the discharge and can now move forward with his life. Highly recommend to anyone facing similar challenges.
It was an honorable pleasure working with Armandeep Gill. He was very professional and communicative in helping my son beat his criminal charges. I would highly recommend him for his services.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
No. Stunt driving is a provincial offence under the Highway Traffic Act, so a conviction does not create a criminal record. It still carries serious penalties, including roadside suspension and impoundment, heavy fines and possible licence suspension on conviction. If the same driving also led to a criminal charge, such as dangerous operation, both cases need a coordinated strategy.
-
The Caledon detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police polices the Town of Caledon under contract, while Peel Regional Police cover Brampton and Mississauga. Your documents will show which service laid the charge. Either way, adult criminal cases from Caledon are heard at the Brampton courthouse, where we appear regularly. Youth matters and provincial offences, such as traffic tickets, follow separate processes.
-
A criminal dangerous driving charge does not by itself suspend your licence before trial, although your release conditions might restrict driving. A conviction, however, leads to a licence suspension under Ontario law and possibly a court-ordered driving prohibition. If you rely on your licence for work, tell us early so we can address it in every negotiation.
-
Usually not. Once we file a designation of counsel, we can appear for you at most routine dates, and many early appearances in Brampton proceed by video. You will need to attend for a trial, a guilty plea or a sentencing hearing unless the court allows otherwise. We tell you well ahead of time which dates require you, so you can plan around work and travel.

First, check for injuries and call 911 if anyone is hurt. Stay at the scene, exchange information and cooperate with police on identification. Avoid discussing who was at fault, apologizing in a way that sounds like an admission or posting about the crash online. Take photos if it is safe, keep any dash-camera footage and call a lawyer before giving a detailed statement.
