Bolton Criminal Lawyers for Workplace and Community Charges
Bolton is a growing town in the north of Caledon, with a historic main street and a large industrial area along Highway 50 full of warehouses, distribution centres and manufacturers. Many of the charges we see here start at work: missing inventory, a trailer of goods that disappeared or a confrontation on the shop floor.
Provident Law LLP’s partners defend Bolton residents and workers charged by the Caledon detachment of the OPP. Your case will be heard in Brampton, where we appear every week. We also review any workplace investigation file early, because the employer’s version of events often shapes the police case.
Provident Law LLP’s partners, Charnpreet Saini and Armandeep Gill, defend Caledon residents and drivers passing through town. We know how OPP investigations are built and how the Peel Crown approaches driving cases.

Inventory and Cargo Theft
In warehouses and distribution centres, losses are often discovered weeks later through inventory counts, and the employer then works backwards to find a suspect. Access logs, scanner records and camera footage may point to several people, not just you. We examine who had access, how the loss was measured and whether the records actually show you taking anything. Cargo theft cases often involve several accused, and we make sure you are not blamed for what others did.
Employer Investigations and Interviews
Before police are called, many employers hold an internal interview, sometimes with a loss prevention team or a private investigator. You may be asked to explain, write a statement or sign a repayment agreement. Those conversations are not protected, and what you say can be handed to police. You can politely decline to give a statement until you have spoken with a lawyer. Call us before the meeting if you can.
Assaults and Threats at Work
Long shifts, production targets and tension between co-workers can lead to confrontations on the warehouse floor or in the parking lot. A shove or heated words can result in an assault or threats charge and immediate termination. Workplace video, witness accounts from co-workers and the history between the people involved are central. We gather this evidence early, before footage is overwritten, and raise self-defence or lack of intent where the facts support it.

What clients say
I just recently attended court today in Brampton and my lawyer was Arman Gill. My charges of breach of long-term supervision have been successfully withdrawn from the courts today. In regards, I am leaving a review and letting your firm know that your services were awesome and I am so happy that I don't have to face any jail time. Once again, your services at your law firm were awesome.
I had serious charges against me and, as an international student, dealing with legal issues is not easy, but Arman Gill always had my back and helped me by going above and beyond. Not only on weekdays, he always answered my calls even on weekends and after office hours. I never saw a lawyer with this much dedication to helping their clients. He got all my charges withdrawn at pre-trial with a peace bond. He always talked about my future and what I wanted as a result, and fought as hard as possible to get the best outcome for me.
I worked with Mr. Arman Gill, who helped my son obtain an absolute discharge, and I couldn't be more grateful. From our first meeting, he was knowledgeable and incredibly thorough. He explained every step of the process clearly and made us feel supported throughout. Thanks to his expertise, my son received the discharge and can now move forward with his life. Highly recommend to anyone facing similar challenges.
It was an honorable pleasure working with Armandeep Gill. He was very professional and communicative in helping my son beat his criminal charges. I would highly recommend him for his services.

Bolton Criminal Lawyer FAQs
-
Not before getting legal advice. A repayment agreement often includes an admission that you took the money or goods, and that admission can be given to the police. In some cases, agreeing to repay through counsel is a smart step that can lead to the matter being resolved without charges, or with a better outcome. We review the agreement and negotiate on your behalf.

Yes, you can be charged, but following instructions may be an important part of your defence. If you honestly believed a supervisor had authority to approve what you did, that can raise doubt about whether you acted dishonestly. Keep any messages, emails or witnesses who can confirm the instructions, and give them to your lawyer, not your employer.

It can make it harder, especially in jobs that require bonding, security clearance or a clean driving record. That is why avoiding a conviction matters. Outcomes such as a withdrawal, diversion, a peace bond or a discharge can make a big difference. If you already have a record, a record suspension may be possible after a waiting period.

Many workplaces have policies allowing searches of lockers, bags or vehicles on company property, and private employers are not bound by the Charter in the same way as police. Even so, how evidence was found and handled still matters. If police later take over the investigation, their own searches must be lawful. We review every step, from the workplace search to the police file.

Whether an employer can dismiss you for a charge depends on your contract, your workplace and the circumstances, which is a question of employment law. The criminal charge itself does not decide it. Avoid making statements to your employer about the allegations until you have advice, and consider speaking to an employment lawyer about your job while we defend the charge.
